Re: Fallout 1 fcfffff
I love the GURPS version of Fallout the most. Too bad that it wasn't released.

Ah, Fallout. I spent many an hour wandering around to get the alien crash encounter to pop up so I could nab the alien blaster and shoot everything in the eyes with it, ha ha!

I remember doing a lot of groinshots with a cattle prod when I played it a first few times.
Anyway, I liked Plasma Rifle the best. Melting people was awesome
!I loved the TB combat in Fallout but sometimes I found it annoyingly unrealistic and unbalanced. Damage was a bit too random - even when one can hit an eye with a 95% probability, it's difficult to quickly kill people.
Also, there are sometimes senseless combats with multiple opponents that have much higher attributes than a character created according to game rules - what's the point of using cheating opponents when they have an advantage of numbers anyway?
For example escorting caravans - when one encounters a caravan, it has about ten armoured guards with Hunting Rifles and when one escorts a caravan, it has two guards in leather jackets with pistols and one with a shotgun. Usually against a horde of souped-up raiders.
Anyway, the thing I loved the most was the multiple solutions and the setting
And graphics were awesome
. Actually, they are still awesome when a high-resolution patch is applied
.Too bad that modding it is so difficult...
Speaking of mods:
I made a mod that makes the weapons more deadly. I don't think it's really realistic, but it's more "cinematic".

I just got the disk with 1, 2, and tactics! It works on my PC as well!

I started playing Fallout again
. Damn, this game is a work of art - the setting and atmosphere is so great
!
It would be nearly perfect if they'd retain the GURPS licence

It's funny how I've came across this as I was just thinking about posting up a Fallout: 3 Vs. Fallout: New Vegas thread. I have to admit, although the first and second Fallout games were good, they just don't beat the freedom style gameplay Fallout: 3 has. Since I've completed them all so far, Fallout: 3 is by far in my opinion the best Fallout game in the series. From what rumours I've picked up, Fallout: 4 takes place in San Francsico so again, should be quite interesting I'm sure you'll agree.

I saw a LP of Fo3 - I didn't like the awful writing and low level of skills required to do stuff that the game describes as requiring expert skills.
