Imperial Authority

The Order of Our Martyred Lady is an Order Militant of the Adepta Sororitas based in the Convent Sanctorum on Ophelia VII. The order was originally called the Order of the Fiery Heart and was founded by order of the Ecclesiarch Alexis XXII in 378.M36. The Patron Saint and founder was Canoness Saint Katherine, who led her order for many decades before being murdered by the Witch-cult of Mnestteus. So moved by her death were her Sisters that they changed the orders name to the Order of Our Martyred Lady in her honour. Their colours originally consisted of black armor and black cloaks with red lining, with red used for weaponry and white used for unit insignia and piping around the cloaks. After the Order's losses on Armageddon, the majority of the Preceptories changed the cloth colour to all red, with the first line of the Fede Imperialis stitched between parallel lines of silver along the bottom edge to remind them of the martyring of their Sisters on Armageddon

The Ecclesiarchy (officially the Adeptus Ministorum) is the only official state church of the Imperium. It maintains and spreads the Imperial Cult throughout the Imperium. Although the interpretation of particular Imperial Cult dogmas varies through the Imperium, any extreme deviance from its strictures is considered heresy and dealt with great severity. The Ecclesiarchy is based on Terra, its urban palace covering nearly all of the southernmost continent.

The Ordo Hereticus was founded much later than the Ordo Xenos and Ordo Malleus, created after the Age of Apostasy which occurred during the second century of the 36th millennium. The Apostasy and the many heresies that took root during the anarchy (most notably the Plague of Unbelief), had severely destabilized the Imperium in a way not seen since the Horus Heresy.

The Ordo Hereticus was formed as a check on the Ecclesiarchy, ensuring that another man like Vandire could not gain the level of power and control he did. Although the Ecclesiarchy has its own internal regulatory bodies, it is still the role of the Inquisition to monitor all organizations (including the Ecclesiarchy) of the Imperium.
